International Student Film and Video Festival, Beijing Film Academy
(October 18-25, 2015)
From October 18-25, 2015, the 14th International Student Film and Video Festival will be held in Beijing Film Academy. The festival is held once year and officially listed in the academy teaching schedule. Selected films will be screened in our 1000-seat Cineplex and student filmmakers will be introduced to the audience during the screening of their films. School representatives and student filmmakers from all over the world gather in ISFVF for a week of program and forum with faculty from BFA.
Beijing Queer Film Festival
(October 17-23, 2015)
Beijing Queer Film Festival (Oct 17th - 23rd 2015) is currently the only film festival in mainland China to offer a public forum to films and discussions exploring sexuality and gender identities. Operating under difficult social and political conditions, the festival has faced many difficulties in its 10-year existence. Thanks to the valiant support of individuals and social organizations, the Beijing Queer Film Festival has managed to keep going forward and resist all kinds of pressures, providing a voice to the queer minority in China.

Queer Forever!

Queer Forever! is the queer art festival in Vietnam, which connects contemporary art and Vietnamese culture with queer sensibilities. Queer Forever! will introduce art works of contemporary artists and a series of lectures and discussions around the topics of queer and gender issues in film and cinema, literature, and visual art.

MINI DOC FEST - Hà Nội DOCLAB

A small center for big ideas in documentary and experimental films and video art. Located in Hanoi at the Goethe institut, Doclab was created in 2009 to help cultivate a new generation of Vietnamese independent filmmakers and media artists while encouraging the development of a local audience. – Doclab provides production, post-production and screening equipment to support the wide range of activities for its students, visiting artists, and member filmmakers. – The activities in Doclab include: workshops such as basic and advanced filmmaking: camera, sound, editing, production and post-production. Our screening program offers regular weekly video art and documentary films open to the public. – Vietnamese and visiting international filmmakers, video artists and researchers hold periodic special screenings, seminars, and discussions.

META HOUSE, Phnom Penh

In January 2007, German filmmaker Nico Mesterharm and his Cambodian team opened Phnom Penh's META HOUSE in association with the International Academy at the Free University of Berlin. Located in the heart of the city, Cambodia's first art/communication/media center is just a few minutes away from the riverside and Royal Palace. – Boasting more than 100 sq. metres of art exhibition space and an open-air media lounge on the rooftop overlooking Phnom Penh, the three storey gallery offers an excellent space for artists-in-residence and visiting artists to interact.

Sao La Art Space Saigon

Sao La started as a non-profit initiative inside the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Art Museum, founded in early 2014 by Galerie Quynh. After one year building a bridge between the local and the art communities, Sao La became an independent art project in May 2015. – Sao La carries two main objectives: making contemporary art accessible to the general Vietnamese public through educational programs, and nurturing Vietnam’s growing creative community. The project will serve not only as a project that organizes exhibitions, film and video screenings, workshops and lectures but also as an informal place for young Vietnamese artists to experiment, challenge and develop their creative practices.
